Chris Oversby

Chris Oversby started his career with Shell and has held several global leadership positions in the O&G chemical sector with public companies including, Baker Hughes, Clariant & Univar, and was a member of Univar’s successful IPO team.  Chris has also spent several years working with various PE portfolio companies and was appointed CEO of Optum Energy Solutions, a Drag reducer start-up, that successfully divested in 2019.

 

Chris has served as an independent board member for 7-years at Chem EOR, a TPG portfolio company.   Chris is a Chartered Chemist and holds an MBA from Leeds University Business School.

John Freer

 

John Freer is an Operating Partner with Energy Innovation Capital bringing over 25 years’ experience investing, operating, and innovating in energy & advanced manufacturing technology firms.  John supports the EIC team by providing expert technology and operating perspectives at the screening, pipeline, diligence, and portfolio stages of the investment cycle.

 

Previously, John was the executive leader of GE’s manufacturing research organization, and a founding team member & technology lead for GE Ventures’ energy and advanced manufacturing practice areas.  John has extensive experience in board, observer, and advisory roles, participating in more than 75 energy venture transactions over 14 years.  John is often called upon to organize & lead multi-disciplinary teams in solving complex technical & operating challenges in energy venture, renewable energy, and semiconductor domains.

 

John holds a Master of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Engineering from Tufts, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  John is a licensed Professional Engineer, private pilot, and co-inventor on 6 patents in advanced manufacturing.

Greg Powers

Greg Powers has served as Bayotech’s Chief Innovation Officer since 2022.  BayoTech is a regional small-scale hydrogen producer and transporter of gaseous hydrogen. He is responsible for all research, development and scale-up of BayoTech’s products. Greg also directs IP strategy and is the technical advisor in BayoTech M&A projects.

         

Prior to Bayotech, Gregwas at Halliburton from 2010 until January 2022.  He started as Vice President of Technology and was responsible for leading the overall technology direction and product development processes as well as oversight of IP and strategy and structure of the global technology organization.  For the last 2 years he was Global Innovation Vice President, and created an internal industrial accelerator focused on helping clean energy start-up companies scale to commercialization.

 

Powers’ technology experience spans over four decades in product research, development and commercialization for numerous industries. He has worked extensively across theUS, Europe and Asia.  Prior to Haliburton, he was the executive vice president of Research, Development and Biofuels Operations for Verenium Corp., a developer and producer of specialty enzymes. Before that, he was vice president of Global Engineering for United Technologies’ Carrier Corp., where he was responsible for all research,  development and engineering company-wide. Powers has also worked in global technology roles for General Electric’s Specialty Materials, Lighting and Plastics divisions.

 

Greg earned bachelor's, master’s and doctorate degrees in chemical engineering, all from the University of Pennsylvania.
